Brief Biography
of
Dr. Ashin Nandaka-Nandakayama
Monastery, Myanmar
:: Ven. Dr. Ashin Nandaka was born on
Saturday, 3rd July 1965 at tatkon Myo,
, Mandalay
Division. His parents were U Kyaw Khin
and Daw Khant.
:: He had a degree of B.A. from
the Yangon Distance
University and M. A. degree from and
Buddhist and Pali
University of Sri Lankha
and Ph.D. from Bombay University,
India.
In Myanmar Calendar
year 1346, 9th waxing of Tagu he was ordained
a Bhikku under the patronage of Myan Aung Sayadaw
Bhaddanta Vayaminda at Mahasi Sasana Yeittha,
Sein Pan, Mandalay Myo.
:: He was trained in the Pariyatti Sasana (Study of the
scripture; theory of Dhamma) under various Sayadaws Mandalay, Yangon and Tatkon
Myo. He passed the Dhammacariya
Degree in 1995. He has been residing in Mingaladon Township,
Yangon as a chief monk (Abbot). He has a
regular program at his monastery for teaching Buddhism and a scheduled
meditation class. He has been an examiner at the International
Thervada Buddhist Missionary
University since 2005.
:: He
established two libraries in his native village and another one in Yangon. He initiated the funding program to support all
poor elementary school children. He gave a regular Dhamma
talk to one to two thousand devotees. He is now taking a task of missionary
work in USA.
He will be residing in Thanti-Thitsar
